The means of certification of conformity of series-manufactured (1), appliances is

• Phase 1 - EC Type-examination - module B
• Phase 2 : EC declaration of conformity to type (2) – module C bis 2 or module D
• Phase 3 : Manufacturer affixes CE mark on every appliance concerned leaving the factory

Phase 1 : EC Type-examination – module B

The following general procedure is applied:

A. New CE certification projects 

• The manufacturer sends an application form ( TGP-08-01) to TECHNIGAS;
• TECHNIGAS sends a quotation and an order form to the manufacturer;
• The manufacturer sends the signed order form back to TECHNIGAS;
• TECHNIGAS informs the testing laboratory;
• The laboratory schedules the tests and informs the manufacturer;
• The manufacturer provides a design documentation file to TECHNIGAS;
• The manufacturer provides an appliance representative of the production envisaged to the laboratory;
• TECHNIGAS examines the design documentation file;
• The laboratory tests the appliance(s);
• The laboratory sends the test report to TECHNIGAS;
• TECHNIGAS examines the test report and evaluates if the appliance satisfies the applicable essential requirements of the directive;
• TECHNIGAS sends the test report and the evaluation report to the manufacturer;
• In case of non-conformities the manufacturer takes the necessary corrective measures;
• TECHNIGAS makes a final evaluation and issues a CE type-examination certificate.

B. Extensions of existing Technigas CE certificates

• The manufacturer sends an application form ( TGP-08-27 Technigas) to TECHNIGAS;
• For further steps, see A.

The following general procedure is applied:

• The manufacturer sends an application form ( TGP-09-01) to TECHNIGAS indicating option module C or module D;
• Document ( TGP-09-21) explains the choice between Module C and D; 
• TECHNIGAS sends a contract proposal to the manufacturer;
• The manufacturer sends the signed contract proposal back to TECHNIGAS;
• The manufacturer provides a copy of the design documentation file to TECHNIGAS in case the EC type-examination was not carried out by TECHNIGAS;
• TECHNIGAS makes on-site checks on appliances at random at intervals of one year or less (module C bis 2) or TECHNIGAS examines and evaluates at least once every two years the quality system to determine whether it satisfies the requirements (module D);
• TECHNIGAS makes a test report and evaluates if the appliances satisfy or the production satisfies the prescriptions of the directive;
• TECHNIGAS sends the test report and the evaluation report to the manufacturer;
• In case of non-conformities the manufacturer takes the necessary corrective measures;
• TECHNIGAS checks and evaluates the applied corrective measures;
• The manufacturer issues a declaration of conformity to type ;
• If the manufacturer wants to withdrawal a CE type certificate from the EC surveillance contract, cancellation document ( TGP-09-27) can be used.

Phase 3 : Manufacturer affixes CE mark on every appliance concerned leaving the factory.

(1) for non series-manufactured appliances the directive offers module G (not for directive 92/42/EEC) being EC verification by unit. The procedure is similar to module B. Only differences are 1) a different application form ( TGP-13-01), 2) if necessary the tests may be carried out after installation of the appliance, 3) the notified body must affix the CE mark on the appliance, 4) no conformity to type module

(2) other modules like E and F (not for directive 92/42/EEC) are also allowed by the directive for the EC declaration of conformity to type procedure but are not offered by TECHNIGAS as they are hardly ever used.
